The full story of the Bizon Home Brewery, which
even today is still in family hands, can be traced
back to the year 1840. But also in the centuries
before that beer artisans used the same spring
water wells and the same barleys and hops from
the surrounding fields.

So, we do not exaggerate a bit when we say it’s the experience and knowledge gained from quite a number of centuries of brewing that was handed down from generation to generation, right on to the present day.

“Modern-day” brewing tradition in Westheim perhaps indeed began in 1840 with young master brewer Mergel explaining his plans for a business to Estate-owner Graf Joseph zu Stolberg-Stolberg. 

Yet, every single new leader ever since is just another torchbearer in the row.
